The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the double blockade of the United States and Iran is bringing all sorts of negative economic consequences.

After the low-cost airline Volotea, which connects the island with several French airports and with Asturias and has a capacity for 516 passengers per week to Lanzarote, introduced a new policy that links the ticket prices to the cost of fuel, others have taken similar initiatives.

If Volotea can now charge a surcharge of up to 14 euros per passenger per route if fuel prices rise, then another airline flying to Lanzarote is also applying surcharges.

In the case of Transavia, which offers four connections to Paris from Lanzarote each week, as well as three to Amsterdam and another three to Eindhoven, the surcharge is around ten euros

According to the low-cost airline of the Air France - KLM Group, the surcharge is applied as a supplement added to the base ticket price to compensate for the rise in kerosene.

According to the information published these days, the company is applying it dynamically and variably according to the route and the moment of purchase.

Furthermore, Transavia had already announced cuts in the number of flights, specifically reporting a 2% reduction in its schedule.

Meanwhile, other airlines have announced that they will not apply surcharges for the rise in fuel prices, as is the case with Easyjet, which transports more than 10,000 people every week between Lanzarote and various destinations in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Switzerland.
