The Minister of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood and Families of the Government of the Canary Islands, Candelaria Delgado, announced this Thursday that approximately 42,000 recipients of non-contributory pensions in the islands will receive an additional 400 euros per year.

They will receive it in two payments through a formula devised by the regional Executive so that from the Renta Canaria, non-contributory pensions will be supplemented up to that amount.

It is not a supplement as such to the Renta Canaria, as the state administration has not modified the Social Security Law to allow for their compatibility with non-contributory pensions.

Delgado detailed this in a parliamentary committee, where she stressed that the budgets of her department for 2026 will grow by 8.2% compared to the current year.

In total, it will have 837.74 million euros, of which 387.49 million will go to the dependency area, to "strengthen benefits, places, and agreements to reduce waiting lists".
