The strike initiated this Sunday by Ryanair's cabin crew has so far not caused any incidents at the Canary Islands airports, as the minimum services decreed by the Ministry of Development, which are 100% for flights in the islands, have been met.
This has been confirmed by Aena, who have also stated that there have not even been significant delays due to the strike. However, passengers have told La Voz that they have suffered some delays on flights to Lanzarote this Sunday, although slight.
It should be remembered that the Ryanair cabin crew strike was called by the USO and SITCPLA unions in protest against the closure of the Lanzarote, Tenerife South, Gran Canaria and Girona bases. A closure of bases that, in the case of the Canary Islands, the company assured is "irreversible" and that it justified in "the delay in the delivery of the new fleet" of aircraft and in that the bases located in the archipelago "generate great losses during the winter season".
Ryanair's cabin crew face the second day of strike this Monday, having called another eight days of stoppages, which are the 6th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th and 29th of September. In addition, these stoppages must be added to those announced by the Sepla union of pilots, which also announced five days of strike at Ryanair (19, 20, 22, 27 and 29 September), three of them coinciding with those of the cabin crew.
