Tomatoes are the agricultural products that have most increased their price at origin during the last year in the Canary Islands.
In April 2026, each kilo of tomatoes had a price of 1.25 euros, while in the same month of the previous year the price was 0.64 (an increase of 95.3%). This is one of the data provided by the Agricultural Price Statistics published by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
Products such as spring onions (89.6%), eggplants (55.6%), lemons (50.8%), and green beans (45.6%) have also experienced increases.
On the other hand, carrots and papayas are the products that have decreased the most in price at origin during the last year. In the case of carrots, the annual decrease has been 22.8% (in April 2025 they were sold for 1.14 euros per kilo and this year for 0.88). Papayas have decreased from the 1.15 euros they cost last year to the 1.02 euros paid now, a decrease of 11.3%.
Products such as pumpkins (-11.1%), sweet potatoes and yams (-9.0%), and onions (-7.7%) also decreased in price.
