The port of Arrecife received a total of 448,124 passengers in 2022, which represents an increase of 76.5% compared to the previous year. However, there are 268,439 fewer passengers than arrived in 2019, which is equivalent to a 37.5% drop, according to figures from the port authority, provided by the Lanzarote Data Center.
The slow recovery in travelers compared to pre-pandemic levels is also noticeable in the number of automobiles. If in 2019 passengers brought more than 85,000 vehicles with them, last year there were only 55,000.
In the specific case of cruise passengers, 336,281 people arrived on cruises in 2022, which is more than double the number who arrived in 2021. However, the figures are very far from the levels reached in 2019, when more than half a million cruise passengers arrived.
Goods traffic, fully recovered
The port of Arrecife received a total of 1,727,659 tons of goods in 2022, 24.4% more than arrived in 2021. This is also a slightly higher figure than the tons unloaded in 2019 when there were 1,725,281.
The growth compared to 2019 has been particularly experienced in the number of containers unloaded of general cargo, which has exceeded half a million.
