The Port of Arrecife exceeds 175,000 tons of traffic in January

Meanwhile, the growth recorded for the Port of Las Palmas is 17.03%, with 2,713,754 tons in the month of January.

The Port Authority of Las Palmas increases its total traffic to reach 3,125,112 tons in the annual accumulated of 2025, which represents an increase of +16.95% compared to last year, that is, 452,948 tons more than in 2024.

The growth recorded for the Port of Las Palmas is 17.03%, with 2,713,754 tons in the month of January; the Port of Arrecife increases its total traffic by +12.10%, with 175,111 tons; and the Port of Puerto del Rosario also shows positive figures, with an increase of +42.71% and 152,924 tons. On the opposite side of the scale are the Port of Arinaga, which decreases its total traffic by -16.19%, with 23,847 tons; as well as the Port of Salinetas, with -3.42% with 59,476 tons.

The president of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Beatriz Calzada, stressed "the strong increase experienced by the port of Puerto del Rosario, with an increase of more than 50% in the number of cruise passengers, nearly 12% in the number of inter-island passengers, and 78% in the number of ships."

"The 42.71% increase in traffic at this port during the month of January this year is mainly focused on the opening of a new Fred Olsen line originating from Puerto de Las Palmas. So much so, that during the first month of this year Fred Olsen moved 33,000 tons compared to the 7 tons of January 2024," Calzada said.

 

Detailed data for the five ports of the Port Authority of Las Palmas

The year-on-year variation of January 2025 with respect to January 2024 for the five ports of the Port Authority presents the following data in the main indicators:

Passenger traffic: +21.12% (-3.30% in regular line and +31.25% in cruise), with a total of 416,065 passengers, compared to 343,509 passengers in the same period of 2024; tons of goods: +19.46% with 2,895,346 tons, compared to 2,423,690 tons in 2024; tons of frozen fish: +11.05%, with 17,651 tons, compared to 15,894 tons; tons of fresh fish: -90% with 1 ton, compared to 10 in the same period of the previous year; tons of fuel: -8.07% with 202,208 tons, compared to 219,962 tons in 2024; TEU units: +22.06% with 133,570 units, compared to 109,432 in 2024; tons of general containerized cargo: +18.78% with 1,471,363 tons, compared to 1,238,756 tons in 2024; Ro-Ro traffic units: +3.28% with 31,915 units, compared to 30,901 in the same period of the previous year; and tons of Ro-Ro traffic: +15.98% with 487,137 tons, compared to 420,030 tons in 2024.

For the Port of Las Palmas, the year-on-year variation of January 2025-2024 reflects the following data in the main indicators:

Passenger traffic: +10.63% (-4.10% in regular line and +22.76% in cruise), with 224,032 passengers; tons of goods: +20.01% with 2,490,569 tons; tons of frozen fish: +13.60% with 17,129 tons; tons of fresh fish: -100.00% with 0 tons; tons of fuel: -8.09% with 201,524 tons; TEU units: +22.85% with 124,714 TEU; tons of general containerized cargo: +19.21% with 1,399,310 tons, Ro-Ro traffic units: -2.51% with 21,061 units; and tons of Ro-Ro traffic: +5.74% with 320,547 tons
