The German supermarket chain Lidl will open this Friday, August 22, its new store in Costa Teguise, specifically at Calle Las Piteras 201B, according to a statement issued to the media by the company.
With a sales area of more than 1,700 square meters, the establishment will "offer a comfortable and modern shopping experience, making available to customers a wide range of fresh, packaged and own-brand products of the company".
Lidl has invested more than 8.8 million euros in the execution of this project in which local companies have participated and, in its commitment to generate wealth and quality employment, has a team of 29 people, thus reaching 200 employees on the island of Lanzarote, where it already has a network of six stores, in the municipalities of Arrecife, San Bartolomé, Yaiza, Puerto del Carmen and Teguise.
According to Carlos Martínez, regional director of Lidl in the Canary Islands, "We are very pleased to open our sixth store in Lanzarote, doubling our presence on the island in just one year. This new opening reflects our strong commitment to the Canary Islands and our commitment to be closer to our customers every day."
To facilitate the shopping experience for customers, the new store, which will open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., has a large parking lot with nearly 150 spaces. Four of them equipped with charging points for electric vehicles.
The new center has been built under the chain's sustainability standards and has other energy efficiency measures such as the LED lighting system or the photovoltaic installation, which will allow it to generate up to 25% of the energy it consumes.
A hundred Canarian suppliers
The German company works with about one hundred Canarian suppliers, from whom it bought merchandise worth about 100 million euros last year.
In this way, Lidl consolidates its role as a strategic platform for the growth of the local agricultural sector, thanks to the promotion of Canarian products in its network of 39 stores spread over five islands, where customers can find articles made in the Canary Islands throughout the year, such as fruits and vegetables - tomatoes, bananas, potatoes, papaya, red sweet potato from Lanzarote -, meat, fish, dairy products, wines, snacks or a wide section of plants.
