Sales of electrified vehicles (electric and plug-in hybrid), which include passenger cars, quadricycles, commercial and industrial vehicles, and buses, increased by 27.7% in March in the Canary Islands.
The data has been provided by Anfac, the Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers.
Despite the growth, with 552 units sold compared to 432 in the same month last year, the sale of conventional vehicles has increased even more, as the share of the total market has decreased.
In March 2024, electrified cars represented 4% of the total, while last month they were 3.1%.
At a national level, the purchase of electrified vehicles grew much more, 67.6% in March, with 17,814 sales, and represented 13.15% of the market.
The sector is confident that the growth in sales of electrified vehicles will continue following the announcement, earlier this month, of the launch of the MOVES Plan, with 400 million euros.
In addition, there is the extension of the 15% IRPF deduction for the purchase of electric vehicles. Both measures were requested by ANFAC, which values them "very positively".
