Banco Santander, the Fuerteventura Chamber of Commerce, the Lanzarote and La Graciosa Chamber of Commerce and the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce are convening, in collaboration with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and the La Provincia newspaper, the eighth edition of the SME of the Year Award of Las Palmas.

The objective of this contest is to recognize the work of small and medium-sized companies as generators of wealth and creators of employment in the performance of their daily work.

The deadline for submitting applications for the SME of the Year 2024 award began on February 23 and will close at 20:00 (peninsular time) on April 8.

All small and medium-sized companies in the province with less than 250 employees and with a turnover of less than 50 million euros at the close of the 2023 financial year that have their registered office in the province of Las Palmas can participate in this new call.

In addition to the election of the SME of the Year, the jury may award four runner-up prizes in the categories of Internationalization, Innovation and Digitalization, Training and Employment, and Sustainable SME.

The winning company will compete for the National SME of the Year Award 2024, which will be announced in the first quarter of 2025. Likewise, the winning companies of the different runner-up prizes will compete for the National Award in their respective categories.

How to participate?

Interested companies must fill in the registration form that they will find on the website of the Lanzarote and La Graciosa Chamber of Commerce, where they can also consult the rules of the contest.

The jury will value in its deliberations merits such as job creation, with special attention to permanent employment; training actions for employees; the internationalization of the company; digitalization and innovation initiatives, as well as the sustainable projects in which they have participated.

The SME of the Year Award "is consolidated with this eighth edition as the benchmark award for small and medium-sized Spanish companies."

Since 2017, the year of its launch, 9,176 SMEs have already participated in this contest.
