The president of the Lanzarote Business Confederation (CEL), Beatriz Salazar, and the vice president and island councilor of Public Works of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, have held a first meeting after the election of the new Board of Directors of the organization, with the aim of "promoting and strengthening dialogue, as well as collaboration between both institutions and promoting economic and social development on the island."

“At this moment it is key to understand the real needs of Lanzarote's business community”, explains Beatriz Salazar, “because it is the only way to provide an effective response to the needs of the economic fabric, so that our SMEs do not lose competitiveness”. “It is clear that this planning exercise will result in greater employability of the population and, therefore, in the wealth of the citizens”, she confirms.

For his part, Jacobo Medina, highlighted that “this public-private collaboration is essential to continue with our plan to reactivate the island's economy through public works”. He highlighted “the role of the CEL as a channel of communication between the public administration and the business community" and added that “collaboration is the best way to provide a future response to the challenges facing today's society”.

In this sense, the meeting served to analyze the socioeconomic situation of Lanzarote in the short and medium term, both from the private perspective provided by Beatriz Salazar, and from the public perspective presented by Jacobo Medina. Likewise, the different sectoral problems and the CEL's proposals for the execution of projects that allow the economic recovery of Lanzarote from a sustainable perspective were analyzed in general terms.

During this meeting, the president of the CEL highlighted the effort that companies are making and the need to have strategic tools to promote economic activity and innovation, as well as to improve the competitiveness of Lanzarote companies.

Jacobo Medina offered his collaboration and support, “always thinking about boosting the economy, which will result in greater well-being for the population”.

Beatriz Salazar thanked the vice president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote for his willingness, after proposing periodic meetings between the two parties, during which the sectoral demands and needs of the island's business fabric will be analyzed.
