The Minister of Finance and Relations with the European Union, Matilde Asián, has signed the letter sent by all the Ministers of Finance of the autonomous communities and the two autonomous cities led by the Popular Party, so that Minister María Jesús Montero urgently convenes the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council.
In this way, the Government of the Canary Islands joins the petition and expresses its concern about the possibility of a bilateral negotiation between the State and Catalonia regarding its financing.
Matilde Asián has always stated that "regional financing should be negotiated multilaterally with all the autonomous communities within the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council, which is the appropriate body for this purpose."
The Fiscal and Financial Policy Council has not met since December of last year. For the Minister of Finance and Relations with the European Union, "six months later, it seems more necessary than ever to convene this meeting to negotiate new regional financing with all the communities, in a consensual manner.
If this is not done, the interterritorial solidarity fund, which is a basic principle in our system, could be broken," said the Minister of Finance and Relations with the European Union.
