The Government of the Canary Islands has increased by 29.75% the amount of the Canary Citizenship Income (RCC) between 2023 and 2026.
This increase, applied progressively in recent years, has benefited almost 13,000 households and represents a significant budgetary effort by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood and Families, guaranteeing a substantial improvement in the purchasing power of the beneficiary family units.
With this measure, the Government of the Canary Islands "reaffirms its commitment to continue advancing in public policies that place people at the center of government action, promoting greater equity and social justice in the Canary Islands. In this way, the RCC consolidates its role as a complement to the Minimum Vital Income and a key tool for inclusion."
In absolute terms, the update of the RCC implies that, for example, a single adult person goes from receiving 565.37 euros per month in 2023 to 733.60 euros in 2026.
Likewise, larger family units have experienced an equivalent proportional increase, reaching in some cases 1,613.92 euros per month. In the case of single-parent households, the increase also reaches 29.75%, reinforcing the protection of households with children, one of the groups at greatest risk of social vulnerability.
This effort reflects the priority of the Government of the Canary Islands to "strengthen the social shield, adapt benefits to the current economic context, and ensure that the Canary Citizenship Income continues to be an effective tool for inclusion and social cohesion in the Archipelago".
