The Cabildo of Lanzarote and the INCYDE Foundation of the Spanish Chambers of Commerce (Chamber Institute for the Creation and Development of Companies) have today signed a collaboration agreement aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, digitalization and business sustainability on the island.

The main objective of the agreement is to strengthen the local business fabric through training, advice and support programs for SMEs, micro-enterprises and entrepreneurs.

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted that "this agreement represents a vital boost for small and medium-sized companies in Lanzarote, especially in key sectors such as commerce and tourism. We are committed to providing our SMEs with the necessary tools to compete in an increasingly digital and sustainable market, maintaining our commitment to the economic development of the island."

For his part, Javier Collado Cortés, General Director of INCYDE, stressed the importance of this collaboration to promote self-employment and the creation of companies in Lanzarote: "Through this agreement, we not only train local entrepreneurs and businessmen, but we also position them on the path towards digital transformation and sustainability."

Support programs for small businesses

Within the framework of this agreement, two specific programs will be developed to support local small businesses. These programs are part of the PRECE Canarias project and may be co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), within the state ESF+ program of the autonomous community of the Canary Islands.

These initiatives are aimed at improving the competitiveness of local businesses through the adoption of new technologies, the optimization of processes and training in sustainability. In addition, events and workshops will be organized to facilitate access to the latest market trends and allow local entrepreneurs to adapt to an increasingly demanding business environment.

The framework agreement contemplates a series of training activities aimed at SMEs and entrepreneurs in various sectors, with special emphasis on digitalization, tourism and sustainability. The actions will be oriented towards the creation and consolidation of companies, with special attention to training for self-employment and the improvement of the competitiveness of already established companies.

During the coming years, the Cabildo of Lanzarote and INCYDE will work together in the development of these programs, with the aim of positioning Lanzarote as a benchmark in economic and business sustainability, promoting the digital transformation of companies and promoting employment and competitiveness in the strategic sectors of the island.
