The suspension of the national strike of drivers to help recover the towns affected after the catastrophic DANA that devastated the province of Valencia on October 29, is coming to an end.

“If nothing changes, we will resume the strike in Lanzarote on November 28 and 29 because no agreement has been reached with the employers in last week's meeting”, explained to La Voz Ricardo Hernández, union delegate of Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) in Arrecife Bus.

Asked if the 80% percentage of minimum services established by the Cabildo for the day of strike last October 28 will be maintained, Hernández doubts that this time the percentage will be so high.

This time it is going to be different, no agreement is being reached, we are going to take to the streets more, we are going to concentrate not only on the Bus Station but also in workplaces, on the Medular road and in the Government Delegation”.

The strike was called by CCOO and UGT to achieve the advancement of the retirement age of drivers of all types of transport with the exception of taxis. This includes professional drivers of heavy and light transport, parcel delivery, urban and interurban buses and discretionary buses.

After November 28 and 29 there are two other strike days planned for December 5 and 9.
