Almost one in four residents in Lanzarote (23.9%) does not have Spanish nationality. That's 39,056 people from all five continents, although some countries have a very prominent presence.
According to the Data Center of Lanzarote, the country with the most residents on the island in 2024 is Colombia, from where 7,121 residents come, the vast majority residing in Arrecife.
This year, the Colombian residents have overtaken the British, who for many years were the most abundant foreign community on the island.
Thus, currently, the second place corresponds to the United Kingdom, from where 6,254 residents come. Their preferred municipality to live in is Tías, followed by Yaiza and Teguise.
The third most widespread foreign nationality on the island is Italian with 4,317 residents living throughout Lanzarote. The municipality with the most Italian residents is Arrecife, followed very closely by Teguise, Tías, and Yaiza.
The country that occupies the fourth place in the number of residents is Morocco, from where 3,870 residents come. Nearly half live in Arrecife, followed by Tías, where there are almost a thousand residents from the neighboring country.
German is the fifth most frequent nationality among foreigners residing on the island. The island has 2,243 residents from Germany who live all over the island, but especially in Tías and Teguise, followed by Yaiza.

In sixth place, China, from where 1,470 residents come. More than a third live in Arrecife, the same as the sum of Chinese residents in Tías and Yaiza.
With 1,001 citizens, Romania occupies the seventh position. Almost half of the Romanian residents on the island live in Arrecife, while Yaiza, Tías, and San Bartolomé are home to most of the other half.
Ireland is the eighth country with the most representation with a total of 958 residents. The vast majority are residents of Tías.
Also Venezuela, which occupies the ninth position, is very close to a thousand residents (969). Most of them live in the capital of the island.
Cuba, with 841 residents, completes the table of the ten countries with the most citizens on the island. Almost half reside in Arrecife.
Above 500 residents there are four other countries. India (731 citizens), France (721), Portugal (571) and Argentina (510).
