Ryanair has announced the suspension of its entire flight schedule to, from and within Italy, following the decision taken by the Italian government to "block" the entire country to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
International flights will be suspended from 24:00 on Friday, March 13 until midnight on Wednesday, April 8, while domestic flights in Italy will be canceled from 24:00 on Wednesday, March 11 and also until April 8.
According to the company, all affected passengers were notified this Tuesday by email of the cancellations. In addition, Ryanair states that those who want to be repatriated can obtain a free relocation on a company flight that operates before these measures come into effect, that is, on those flights that operate before midnight on Friday, March 13. Affected passengers will be able to choose between a full refund or travel credits that can be redeemed on Ryanair flights during the next 12 months.
The company points out that it continues to "fully comply with the guidelines recommended by the WHO, the national government and travel bans." "The situation is evolving daily and all passengers on flights affected by travel bans or cancellations receive emails where they are kept informed and offered the possibility of changing the flight, receiving a full refund or travel credits," insists Ryanair. .
Likewise, the company conveys its "sincere apologies" to all customers who have been affected by the schedule changes, "derived from the restrictions of national governments in response to the blockade imposed by the Italian government to combat the Covid-19 virus."
