At the end of 2023, the population of Arrecife reached 64,735 residents, almost 1,000 more residents than the previous year and about 9,000 more inhabitants than 10 years ago, according to the Urban Indicators study of the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

32.8% of the current residents in the capital of the island were born abroad. A percentage that ten years ago was 25.7% of the population, when the residents in Arrecife were 55,673 people.

However, once the naturalized Spaniards are discounted, the percentage of foreigners is 19.7%, lower than ten years ago, when it represented 20.2% of the population of the island's capital.

By age, in the last ten years the proportion of people over 65 years of age has also increased, which, if ten years ago it represented 9.2% of the residents, now it is equivalent to 12.4% of the population.

For its part, the percentage of population aged 14 or under has decreased and, if it was equivalent to 17.4% of the residents in 2013, children currently represent 14.1% of the population.

Thus, the average age of the inhabitants of the capital has increased in the last ten years, going from 36.8 years in 2013 to 40.9 at the end of 2023.

The percentage of Arrecife residents aged between 15 and 64 has remained stable at around 73% of the residents.
