More than 50 livestock farms in Lanzarote will receive aid from the Cabildo

The Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, through the Area of Agriculture and Livestock Farming, has submitted the proposal for the final resolution of subsidies for the feeding of ovine-caprine young animals corresponding to the year 2026. In total, the corporation will authorize an expenditure of 498,400 euros to benefit 51 livestock farms in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. 

This line of aid covers a total of 5,600 female livestock heads born in 2025 currently undergoing the rearing process. As the budget is divided proportionally, the final amount allocated is 89 euros per subsidizable animal. The main objective of these subsidies is to guarantee the continuity, sustainability, and generational replacement in the island's livestock farms. 

The president of the Cabildo and Minister of Agriculture, Oswaldo Betancort, emphasized that "rearing is a key activity that goes far beyond sectoral production, as it contributes directly to the preservation of the landscape, biodiversity, and rural culture". "With this call for subsidies for rearing, we continue to fulfill the commitments made to our livestock farmers. These subsidies represent a concrete economic tool to protect the primary sector, guaranteeing roots in the territory and preserving a livestock activity that is an essential part of the identity of Lanzarote and La Graciosa," he pointed out.

The 2026 call, which opened its application period last May after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Province, received a total of 51 applications. After the evaluations by the instructing and collegiate bodies, 100% of the requests were favorable, with zero rejections and zero withdrawals.

The Cabildo of Lanzarote reminds beneficiaries that they have one month, from the official notification of the final resolution, to justify the use of the funds.
