The PSOE candidate for the Senate for Lanzarote and current senator, met this Wednesday with the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote. The purpose of this meeting was to review the roadmap that includes issues of interest for the advancement of the island and that have to do with the chamber's powers. Issues of great importance have been addressed: Lanzarote's connectivity, both air and sea, as well as the urgency of improving airport facilities.
Both leaders have insisted on the "need to maintain the maritime connection" between Arrecife and Cádiz. "That the stopover in Lanzarote continues to be shielded is essential," said Senator Fajardo Palarea. One of the great challenges, which "has not yet been achieved, after many years, is the PIF Animal, which would allow new connections and a reduction in the shopping basket," he adds.
It should be noted that the contentious court and the use of the current Marqués de Herrera barracks have also been "leading lines" in this meeting, says the Chamber of Commerce.
Legal certainty for housing is one of the burning concerns at the moment. For the president of the Lanzarote Chamber of Commerce, José Valle, "it is urgent to guarantee legal certainty to allow greater access to housing. The market is strained and it is difficult to fill certain jobs due to lack of supply," he explains.

For his part, Palarea, has pointed out that "it is essential that we make an effort to access the Next Generation funds, since Lanzarote is an ideal space to develop green economy and blue economy projects. Lanzarote is an exceptional laboratory and we must take advantage of it," he said.
Both have congratulated each other for the "close collaboration" they have maintained to address the "important issues" for Lanzarote during the last years. They have also agreed that the economy is currently in "a period of stability" and that it is necessary to "preserve it so that it continues to consolidate." However, they have recognized that one of the focuses must address "combating the effects of inflation."
