Lanzarote started 2021 with a total of 20,176 workers affected by ERTE, a figure higher than that recorded during the country's full lockdown.
As of May 25 last year, 2,870 ERTE applications had been submitted on the island, affecting 19,191 workers. Thus, this figure has increased by 985 people in the last seven months, which represents a growth of 5.1%.
At the end of November, according to a report by the Government of the Canary Islands, there were already 3,063 applications registered on the island with 20,062 workers affected. A figure that has continued to increase and that, according to what has now been published by the Cabildo Data Center, amounted to 3,092 ERTE applications submitted on January 1, affecting 20,176 workers, 0.5% more than a month before.
At the end of December there were also 18,297 unemployed people on the island, which, added to those affected by an ERTE, meant that there were 38,473 people without work compared to some 58,400 who would be doing so.
