Alicante hosted last week the business meeting "Lanzarote: opportunities to invest and grow", an initiative organized by the Area of Commerce and Consumption of the Cabildo de Lanzarote led by the councilor Armando Santana, with the collaboration of the Society for Foreign Promotion of Lanzarote (SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote), Proexca and the Chambers of Commerce of Lanzarote y La Graciosa and Alicante.
The event brought together more than fifty entrepreneurs from various sectors of the Valencian Community, who showed great interest in learning about the advantages offered by the island as a destination for investment, innovation, and sustainable growth.
During the inauguration, Councilor Armando Santana, promoter of the trade mission, highlighted the reasons why "Lanzarote is not coming to sell a postcard, but to open a door towards a more resilient, greener economic model with enormous growth potential."
Likewise, he highlighted the island's commitment to new strategic sectors such as renewable energies, the blue economy, marine biotechnology, digitalization, training, and audiovisual development, market niches that represent a real opportunity for national and international companies interested in growing from a sustainable territory.
For his part, the CEO of SPEL–Turismo Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández, highlighted how this joint mission has been “an opportunity to present the destination to a very select audience, business owners and investors from an area as well-positioned as the Spanish Levante.
"This presentation has come shortly after a new air connection with the city of Alicante was recently opened, which has served to present our main commercial and tourist attractions, highlighting the fiscal and economic peculiarities of Lanzarote to attract investment.”
The president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, José Valle, highlighted the key role of businesspeople in this process of economic transformation, asserting that "the diversification of the island's economy will not be possible without the involvement of the business community. This conference, framed within the MET (Strategic Transformation Framework), allows us to show that Lanzarote is a territory with talent, stability, and a vision for the future, capable of attracting solid and sustainable projects,” he stated.
The strengths of Lanzarote and La Graciosa
The main objective of the meeting was to highlight Lanzarote's competitive advantages within the Canarian and European economic framework: a safe legal environment, a highly attractive tax regime, and an institutional strategy geared towards economic diversification and sustainability.
During the day, the institutional representatives explained the advantages of the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF) of the Canary Islands, which includes significant deductions for investment, R&D&I, and job creation, in addition to the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC), which offers very favorable conditions for the establishment of new companies.
The meeting sparked considerable interest among Valencian entrepreneurs, who valued "Lanzarote's institutional stability, its growing innovative ecosystem, and its firm commitment to sustainability." In the words of Armando Santana, with this type of initiative, "the Cabildo seeks to generate stable alliances with the Spanish Levante and create bridges to grow together. Lanzarote can be a strategic partner for those seeking to diversify and commit to a more sustainable and competitive economic model."
A vision of the future
Businessman Kumar Dadlani, CEO of the Lanis group, shared his personal experience with attendees, offering an inspiring testimony about the island's potential: "This island taught me that success is not measured only in numbers, but in the ability to create real value, generate employment, and take care of the place that welcomes us," he said. Dadlani encouraged the business leaders present to look towards Lanzarote as a destination of the future and a place to invest with purpose.
This event in Alicante is part of the internationalization and diversification strategy of the island's economy promoted by the Commerce area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote. This is a line of work based on public-private collaboration, aimed at attracting productive investment and promoting sustainable development, in line with the values that define the island model promoted by the Cabildo.
