The latest Business Confidence Index (ICE) of Lanzarote, formed from the opinions of entrepreneurs on the evolution of their businesses in the last quarter of 2022 and their expectations for the first quarter of the year, experiences a slight increase compared to the last survey.

The growth is mainly due to the good results of the end of 2022, as 40.9% of entrepreneurs are satisfied with the results in the last months of last year and only 9.4% say they had a negative period.

However, the growth of business confidence has been hampered by low expectations for the first months of 2023. 22% respond that they expect to improve their situation, while 22.8% respond that they expect it to worsen. 55.2% of respondents expect to remain in the same situation.

Expectations of employment and prices

Regarding expectations in terms of employment, 11.8% of Lanzarote's entrepreneurs responded that it will improve, while 18.1% responded negatively.

Regarding expectations for price evolution, 25.2% of respondents expect the price level to rise, compared to 11.8% expect it to fall.

The ICE is a publication prepared by the Chambers of Commerce of the Canary Islands based on data provided by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
