Lanzarote's 78 hotels generated nearly 65 million euros in revenue in January, 21% more than they obtained in the same month last year, according to the Lanzarote Data Center based on the Tourist Accommodation Survey of the Canary Islands Statistics Institute (ISTAC).
The increase contrasts with the 5% increase in the last twelve months among the island's 119 non-hotel tourist accommodations (apartments, campsites, rural tourism accommodations, and hostels), which together generated approximately 16.5 million euros in revenue.
The average rate for Lanzarote hotels reached an average of 128.90 euros per night last January, a price 17% higher than that recorded a year ago, when it was 109.96 euros.
The rate for non-hotel accommodations, in the same period, has increased by 4% and stands at an average of 76.4 euros. Last year, on the same dates, it was 73.49 euros.
In terms of employment, the island's hotels increased their staff by 17% in the last year, reaching 9,748 employees.
Meanwhile, non-hotel accommodations increased their staff by 12% to 2,296 workers.
The ISTAC Survey also reveals that the duration of stays in hotels has hardly changed in a year and averages 6.2 days.
In contrast, the duration of stays in non-hotel accommodations has been reduced by more than one day compared to last year. In January of this year, it was 7.9 days, while a year ago it reached 9 days.
