Lanzarote recorded the highest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita in the archipelago in 2024, with 28,280 euros per inhabitant.
That's about 2,500 euros more per person than the archipelago's average, which stood at 25,877 euros.
Following are Fuerteventura, with 26,219 euros, and Tenerife, with 26,061 euros, all three above the regional average, which reaches 25,877 euros. Below this figure are: Gran Canaria (25,468), La Palma (23,879), La Gomera (23,570), and El Hierro (22,760).
These are advance GDP data by island for 2024 published by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
Since 2004, Lanzarote has stood out for registering the highest GDP per capita of the islands, with the exception of 2020, when the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic caused the GDP per capita in Lanzarote to fall to 17,151 euros and be surpassed by Tenerife, which recorded 17,769 euros that year.
Fuerteventura and Tenerife show similar values to each other and slightly higher than those of Gran Canaria, while La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro present the lowest records. However, in the last years of the series, a certain convergence is observed between the islands, meaning the distance between the extreme values of this indicator is shortening
