The Council of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, through the Office of Administrative Modernization, launches the new Digital Training Center, located at the Island Library of Arrecife, with the aim of bringing technological training closer to professionals, employees and self-employed workers on the island.
The initiative has a contribution of 80,000 euros from the Ministry of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), and will allow the development of a training program focused on some of the tools and skills that are currently transforming the professional and business sphere.
The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, stressed that “technology is changing at enormous speed and from the institutions we have to ensure that our companies and professionals can take advantage of that change, not be left behind”.
“This center is born precisely for that: to bring technology closer to the reality of those who work every day in Lanzarote. We are talking about tools that can help improve a campaign, organize a business, automate tasks, protect information or find new ways to reach customers,” said Betancort.
The Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Migdalia Machín, emphasized the importance of generating learning spaces linked to new technological challenges.
“We are facing a transformation that affects practically all sectors and that demands new capabilities. Therefore, it is not enough to incorporate technology, it is also necessary for people to know how to use it and to know the possibilities it offers,” stated Machín.
The minister highlighted that “with this center we bring that training closer to Lanzarote and facilitate that professionals and companies can become familiar with tools that a few years ago seemed reserved for large companies and that today can be within reach of any business”.
Courses in AI, digital marketing, cybersecurity and 'phygital' experiences
The Digital Training Center will begin its training activity on October 5 with a program designed to combine knowledge and practice. Thus, the first training, Digital Training, will take place from October 5 to 14 and will cover cloud tools, digital identity, cybersecurity, and basic productivity with artificial intelligence.
From October 19 to 27 will be the turn of Digital Marketing, with content related to customer acquisition, SEO/SEM positioning, social networks, and web analytics. Artificial Intelligence will be the protagonist of the third course, which will take place from October 28 to November 5. Participants will work with generative AI, advanced prompting, task automation, and Vibe Coding, with an eminently practical orientation.
The program will conclude with Smart Products and Phygital Experiences, from November 9 to 13, where technologies such as 3D scanning, WebAR, and connectivity via NFC and QR codes will be addressed.
Registration and participation in this program is free and places will be awarded on a strict first-come, first-served basis, due to limited capacity. Each session will have a maximum of 20 participants, with two shifts available, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
In this way, each course will have a maximum of 40 students, up to the 160 places planned for the entire program. The objective of this format is to promote closer attention and allow participants to work directly with the tools and technologies addressed during the sessions.
