Lanzarote Airport topped the list of airports with the most delays in Europe last Thursday and this Sunday, both in arrivals and departures, due to the air traffic controllers' strike.

As reported by the official profile of Air Controllers, the Lanzarote aerodrome was "the most affected in Europe by air traffic restrictions per flight" during yesterday. Also last Thursday, August 3 or July 27.

The control tower of Lanzarote airport is managed by the private company Saerco. This entity manages five of the eight control towers in the Archipelago, except for those in Tenerife North and South and Gran Canaria airport.

Since February, Saerco workers in Lanzarote have been on strike. However, the impact of the demands is greater during the summer.

The Air Controllers Union (USCA) describes the company's position as "completely immovable" by rejecting a 30% salary increase.

Meanwhile, the company argues that it is willing to "offer a 6% increase in three years, which is added to the 10% already foreseen in the agreement", according to La Voz.
