César Manrique airport registered a total of 682,989 passengers in May, which represents a fall of 0.8% compared to the same month last year, according to data provided by Aena.
Thus, Lanzarote airport registers decreases in the number of passengers compared to 2025 for the third consecutive month. Passenger traffic fell by 0.6% in March and 3.7% in April.
Canary Islands airports as a whole registered a total of 4,109,171 passengers in May, with no change compared to the figure registered in May 2025. Of the total number of travelers, 4,091,752 correspond to commercial flights. Of these, 1,938,069 traveled on domestic flights, up 0.5% compared to the same month last year, and 2,153,683 traveled on international flights, down 0.6%.
Gran Canaria Airport registered the highest number of passengers, with 1,175,039, an increase of 1.5% compared to May 2025. It is followed by Tenerife South Airport with 938,372 passengers (-4.8%); César Manrique-Lanzarote with 682,989 (-0.8%); Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna, with 636,405 (+3.9%); Fuerteventura, with 504,264 (-1.3%); La Palma, with 133,687 (+13.9%); El Hierro, with 27,718 (+11.7%); and La Gomera, with 10,697 (-5.7%).
In the first five months of the year, Canary Islands airports registered 22,694,672 passengers, 0.6% less than in the same period of 2025.
Of the 22,599,593 commercial travelers, 8,650,681 traveled on domestic flights (-0.7%) and 13,948,912 traveled on international flights, 0.4% less than in the cumulative total for these months last year.
Between January and May, 202,182 aircraft movements were managed and 12,986 tons of cargo were transported.
Aena Airports in the State as a Whole
From January to May 2026, Aena's network of airports in Spain registered 124,606,562 travelers (3.7% more than in 2025), representing lower growth than that registered in the first five months of last year compared to 2024, when growth was 4.7%; 1,066,623 aircraft movements were operated (+3.6%) and 556,852 tons of cargo were transported, 5.1% more than in the same period of 2025.
In May, Aena's network of airports in Spain recorded 30,690,644 passengers, 5% more than in the same month of 2025. In addition, 259,412 aircraft movements were managed, 4.9% more than in May 2025, and 118,042 tons of cargo were transported, 3.9% more than in May last year.
