The president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, José Valle, explained in an interview on Radio Lanzarote that he has proposed to the public authorities that a system of proportionality be established for fuel bonuses in the Canary Islands.
According to a study carried out by the Chamber with data from the last twelve months, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura should have a fuel bonus equivalent to 14 cents to have prices comparable to Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
"We are no longer discussing whether Lanzarote will have a fuel bonus, but the amount (of the discount)", explains Valle, who proposes a system of proportionality by island, which would also mean an increase in the bonus for El Hierro, where according to his calculations the bonus should amount to 25 cents.
The study has been presented to the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, who "has in turn transferred it to the Government of the Canary Islands."
"We are talking right now between all parties to see what is the final amount that should be applied, we get 14 cents, the Government of the Canary Islands gets a little less," reveals Valle. The data from the Canarian Executive only take into account the last three months.
