The president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, José Valle, participated this week in the 7th edition of the European Parliament of Enterprises, held in the hemicycle of the European Parliament in Brussels.
The meeting, promoted by Eurochambres, the European association of chambers of commerce, and led in Spain by the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, brought together more than 700 European companies and institutional representatives from across the continent to discuss current economic challenges with high-ranking European Union officials.
The Spanish delegation, led by Inmaculada Riera, Director General of the Chamber of Spain, was composed of 24 companies and 13 chambers of commerce, including that of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. During the day, participants occupied the seats of the European Parliament to debate under three thematic axes: international trade, the single market, and competitive industrialization in a decarbonized Europe.
José Valle highlighted the importance of "the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa being present in these European dialogue spaces, where policies that directly affect the competitiveness, sustainability, and innovation capacity of our companies are defined". The president also emphasized that "the voice of Canary Islands entrepreneurs must be an active part of the construction of the new European economic framework, especially at a key moment for the diversification and transformation of the productive model".
During the meeting, issues such as the need to strengthen the single market, advance technological autonomy, reduce energy costs, and ensure a more competitive and sustainable environment for European SMEs were addressed.
In addition, the Spanish delegation held **meetings with national MEPs** to gain firsthand insight into the European Parliament's views on various issues directly affecting businesses.
The European Business Summit, held every two years, is one of the largest platforms for dialogue between the business community and European institutions, and allows the day-to-day reality of businesses to be brought to the center of European Union decision-making.
