In Lanzarote there are 1,100 beneficiaries of non-contributory pensions

Non-contributory pensions are recognized to those citizens who, being in a situation of need, lack resources for their subsistence, even if they have never contributed or for a sufficient time. Within this modality, there are disability and retirement pensions.

According to what has been published by the Lanzarote Data Center based on figures from the Government of the Canary Islands, at the end of 2022 there were 1,100 beneficiaries of non-contributory pensions in Lanzarote. Among them, 673 are for retirement and 427 for disability. The former receive an average of 503 euros per month, while the latter receive an average of 523 euros.

With respect to the previous year, the number of retirees with non-contributory pensions in Lanzarote increased by 12.3%. In the case of disability pensions, the number of beneficiaries on the island increased by 6.5%.

The majority of non-contributory retirements on the island are recorded in Arrecife, where there are 392 beneficiaries, followed by San Bartolomé, where there are 77. In Teguise and Tías, 64 retirees with non-contributory pensions live in each one, while in Yaiza there are 33 people. In Tinajo and Haría, there are 22 and 21 beneficiaries respectively.

In the case of non-contributory disability pensions, the majority, 268 out of a total of 427, are granted to citizens of the capital. Next is Teguise where there are 45 beneficiaries. In Tías and Tinajo there are 33 and 30 beneficiaries respectively. In Haría there are 14 people, while in Yaiza there are 12 beneficiaries.
