In Canarias there are 381,300 people who received a contributory pension in June, which means 2.5% more than in the same month of 2026. The average amount of these pensions was 1,251.5 euros, which represents 4.8% more than in the same month of 2025. This is one of the data published by the Statistical Institute of Canarias (ISTAC) in the Statistics of Contributory Pensions.
The retirement pension is the most numerous among the contributory benefits paid by Social Security. In Canarias, 216,500 people received it in June, almost 6,000 more people than in the same month last year. The average amount received was 1,455.4 euros, 4.7% more. These pensions are collected by people who have contributed enough during their working lives to be entitled to this benefit.
The widowhood pension is the next in terms of the number of beneficiaries. In Canarias, 83,900 people have this right recognized, receiving an average of 919.7 euros per month, according to the June data. The number of beneficiaries has increased by 0.4% in the last year, and the average amount by 4.6%.
A total of 62,100 people receive a benefit for permanent disability. This figure represents 6.9% more than in 2025 and is the benefit that has increased the most in terms of the number of beneficiaries. The average amount is 1,197.8 euros per month, 3.7% more than a year ago.
In addition, there are 18,900 people who receive an orphanhood and in favor of family members pension, which represents an average amount of 563.8 euros per month. In this case, the number of beneficiaries suffers an annual decrease of 1% but the average amount has grown by 5.8%.
