The plenary session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands has unanimously approved the decree of the regional government that extends the bonus to fuel consumption to the islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, which has been applied in La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro since last year.
The decree also includes the extension of the application of the zero rate in the IGIC for various activities linked to the recovery of La Palma and additional deductions for housing rentals.
The initiative, which by unanimous decision of the plenary will not be processed as a bill, was supported by PSOE and NC despite the fact that their representatives blamed the Government for not including these measures in the budget law, approved two months ago.
The Minister of Territorial Policy, Sustainability and Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, Nieves Lady Barreto, highlighted before the parliamentary plenary that the decree includes deductions of up to 10% of the expenses related to the repair and conservation of properties for habitual housing rental.
The decree also regulates a deduction for families with dependent people with disabilities.
Regarding the fuel tax bonus, a deduction per liter is extended to all non-capital islands based on the price difference with that of the capital islands, which is reviewed quarterly.
In the case of La Palma, regardless of the difference, the bonus of 20 cents is maintained due to the effects of the volcanic eruption on island mobility.
Gasoline bonus approved for Lanzarote
It will not be effective until the quarterly review by the Canary Islands Government detects a sufficient difference with the price of the capital islands.
