More than 24,500 young people residing in the Canary Islands can apply from this Monday for the 2026 Young Cultural Bonus, which begins its fifth edition and which, from this year onwards, can also be used to purchase musical instruments, materials for artistic creation, and cultural courses.
This expansion in the products and activities available through the Bonus responds "to the desire to foster creativity as part of the development of young people, as well as to foster culture from a more active and participatory role," explained the Ministry of Culture, promoter of this program, in a statement.
According to data from the National Statistics Institute, there are 24,579 potential beneficiaries in the Canary Islands (12,746 in Las Palmas and 11,833 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife), out of 561,459 nationwide born in 2008.
The aid amounts to 400 euros and, for the first time, can be chosen between two modalities: dedicating the total amount to a single category, to be chosen from courses and workshops of a cultural nature (in-person and online), musical instruments, or means of creation and artistic material, or distributing the 400 euros of aid among various cultural areas.
The Ministry of Culture has indicated that they are working to make the Young Cultural Bonus more accessible and reach the most vulnerable sectors of the population, which is why they have established a collaboration with the Third Sector Platform, so that it provides support in disseminating the current call and helps young people from these segments of the citizenry to carry out the application process.
To apply for the 2026 Young Cultural Bonus, individuals who have turned or will turn 18 this year must register and complete the corresponding procedure on the website until next October 31.
Young people who turn 18 in 2026, who are of Spanish nationality, legally reside in Spain, are asylum seekers, temporarily displaced, or former unaccompanied minors are entitled to this aid.
From the granting of the aid, young people have one year to use the 400 euros in affiliated establishments, 3,952 throughout Spain, 142 of them in the Canary Islands.
Since 2022, the first year this initiative has been in effect, the number of beneficiaries amounts to 1,298,764 young people throughout the national territory.
