Professionals and companies in the music sector of the islands will once again have the support of the Government of the Canary Islands in those music recording and record editing projects that have been carried out in 2024 or until October 2025.

The bases that will govern the selection of proposals through a public call for subsidies have been signed and approved by the Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture, Migdalia Machín, and will come into force in the coming days, after their publication in the BOC.

Meanwhile, they can be consulted on the website of the Canarian Institute of Cultural Development (ICDC), www.icdcultural.org, a collaborating entity in the management of these calls promoted and managed by the General Directorate of Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries, headed by Cristóbal de la Rosa.

The deadline to submit proposals will be 20 business days from its publication in the BOC. The assigned economic endowment amounts to 600,000 euros.

The Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture, Migdalia Machín, pointed out that "this call reinforces the work we have been developing to give stability and projection to the Canarian music sector, recognizing its contribution to cultural diversity and artistic creation." She added that "supporting those who are professionally dedicated to music is betting on creativity, social cohesion and the generation of opportunities in all the islands."

This type of initiative allows companies and professionals from the islands to innovate in the process of creating new cultural products and bet on a quality, diverse and interesting artistic offer for all audiences.

The evaluation committee will take into account mostly artistic criteria, although also the professional trajectory of the person presenting the proposal and the artistic, technical and production team of the project.

The dissemination of creations of Canarian authorship, participation of artists from the islands, singularity and originality of the project, diversity and accessibility criteria and its viability in general will also be assessed. Those that contribute to the achievement of the objectives contemplated in the Canarian Agenda 2030 will also be valued.

The projects that apply for this aid can be in physical or digital format, produced in the Canary Islands by companies and professionals from that autonomous community, whose main activity is carried out in the music production sector, duly accredited. The maximum amount to be received per selected project will be 8,000 euros.

The electronic presentation will be the only valid means to formalize the applications and the necessary documentation that is required. It will be in the Electronic Headquarters and General Access Point of the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.

The procedure for granting the subsidies object of these bases will be processed in a competitive concurrence regime, through the comparison and prelation of the applications submitted in accordance with the evaluation criteria established in the bases.

In the evaluation criteria of the projects, the inclusion of actions aimed at promoting equal opportunities, parity in the composition of the team of artists, technicians and professionals participating in the project or parity in the management and direction levels of the project will also be taken into account.

Likewise, the participation of people with functional diversity, people at risk of social exclusion; inclusion in the recording and/or editing plan of actions aimed at increasing the environmental sustainability of the project; and measures to increase the accessibility of the project.
