The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the public business entity Puertos Canarios, headed by José Gilberto Moreno, has launched the tender for the renovation works of the pavement of the port esplanade of the port of Caleta de Sebo, in La Graciosa.

The project has a total budget of 945,021.35 euros, including IGIC, and an estimated execution period of six months from the signing of the site act.

The main objective of this action is to improve the safety, accessibility and operation of the port area through a comprehensive intervention that includes: complete replacement of the current pavement, differentiating the pedestrian areas from those of road traffic; the installation of prefabricated curbs on the quay line of the dock and directional tactile paving as a safety measure for pedestrians; the execution of new underground pipelines for services; the structural conditioning of the access to the pontoons, and the installation of seven 15-ton pull cast iron bollards, which will reinforce the operational capacity of the port.

The port of Caleta de Sebo constitutes an essential node of the Transinsular Transport Axis of the Canary Islands, serving as the main maritime connection between Lanzarote and La Graciosa. In addition, the island receives more than 500,000 visitors annually, which reinforces the strategic role of this port as the main gateway.

Currently, the port esplanade has a high state of deterioration, with unevenness and areas that pose a risk to users. The planned intervention will substantially improve the safety, functionality and aesthetics of the port space, thus responding to the logistical needs of La Graciosa.

These actions are part of Puertos Canarios' roadmap towards a model of smart eco-ports in the Canary Islands, and will allow the main gateway of the eighth island to be reorganized in a sustainable and respectful way, offering residents, visitors and operators a modern, accessible and safe space.

Companies interested in competing will have until August 11 at 2:00 p.m. to submit their offers through the Public Sector Procurement Platform.
