Canary Islands Car, CICAR, has renovated the image of its stand at the International Tourism Fair of Madrid, FITUR, which will last until this Sunday. The company from Lanzarote, leader in the rent a car sector in the Canary Islands, has also expanded its exhibition space which, as in previous occasions, is located next to the Canary Islands pavilion.
Among the novelties that CICAR brings to this edition of FITUR is an interactive 360º experience on board a rental car. Thus, the potential user can get into a car and take a virtual tour of some landscapes of the Canary Islands, although in reality they can choose an electric vehicle if they prefer. This is because, at the end of last year, CICAR incorporated the first electric vehicles into its fleet of rental cars, which will be followed by new units throughout this year.
Another of CICAR's premieres is the presentation of the pilot test of the mobile device application of the Audio-guide of the Canary Islands. Until now, the company offered its clients a free audio-guide service in several languages incorporated into the vehicle, allowing them to listen to the most outstanding aspects of each of the islands of the Archipelago while driving. Once this new system is implemented, the user will download the app of the Audio-guide of the Canary Islands on their mobile and will be able to listen to it on the vehicle's audio equipment. As the user travels through an island, they can choose between selecting the track they want to listen to, in accordance with the landscape or the place in front of them, or the track will jump automatically via GPS positioning.
On the other hand, CICAR joins the centenary of the birth of César Manrique by exhibiting the two vehicles that the artist from Lanzarote painted in his day. Thus, the reissue of the Seat Ibiza painted by Manrique is exhibited, a vehicle that has been incorporated into its fleet of rental cars in the Canary Islands. In 1987, the artist captured his art on a limited series of units of the first generation Seat Ibiza, standing out for its innovative, original design full of the colorfulness so characteristic of his painting.
Likewise, the replica of the BMW vehicle that Manrique painted in 1990 is shown for this German firm. The replica has been captured on the current model of that BMW and reproduced in eight units that CICAR has incorporated into its fleet of rental cars for the next three years. César Manrique is the only Spanish painter who has contributed with his work to the artistic initiative BMW Art Car Collection, a prestigious compilation in which the best artists in the world have participated, such as Alexander Calder (1975), Roy Lichtenstein (1977), Andy Warhol (1979), R. Rauschenberg (1986), David Hockney (1995) or Jeff Koons (2010).
The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, approached the CICAR stand to share points of view on the new year that is presented to Canary Islands companies in the field of tourism. Mamerto Cabrera, CEO of CICAR, spoke with the president, who was accompanied by the Minister of Tourism of the Canary Islands Executive, Yaiza Castilla, among other authorities.
