Cement sales have begun to show signs of recovery after the fall in May, marking a figure of 4,848 tons traded in June, 17.2% more, according to a report by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC), collected by the Lanzarote Data Center.

It should be remembered that the data had been increasing since the beginning of the year, with a peak in April reaching 5,077.4 tons sold, but May meant a change of trend by falling 18.5% to 4,136.3, practically 1,000 tons of cement less.

However, June has managed to recover part of that fall, marking the second best figure of 2022, although it is important to mention that it is still 28.7% below the figures for the same period of 2021, when 6,804.3 tons were recorded. Currently, the accumulated amount is 27,244.6, compared to 38,897.8 last year, 30% less.

In the Canary Islands as a whole, the figures also rise, with 49,136.4 tons of cement sold in June, compared to 46,512.0 in May. The archipelago has experienced a very similar trend to that of Lanzarote, since it began to rise at the beginning of 2022, but fell by almost 8,000 tons in May, a fall that has been partially stopped by the data from the sixth month of the year.

However, in terms of the accumulated figure, the situation changes, since it registers a figure of 296,417.0, 2% more than in 2021, when 290,703.2 were recorded, so it increases unlike Lanzarote.
