Cement sales increased by 16% in Lanzarote in the first half of the year

From January to June, 38,897 tons of cement were sold on the island, almost 5,400 more than in the same period of 2020, although the last two months have seen a decrease.

A total of 38,897.8 tons of cement were sold in Lanzarote in the first half of the year, which represents an increase of 16% compared to the same period of the previous year, when 33,501.2 tons of cement were sold on the island. 

According to figures from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics published by the Cabildo Data Center, cement sales increased in the first four months of this year compared to 2020, while they decreased in the months of May and June. 

Specifically, in January 5,129.2 tons of cement were sold on the island, 3% more than in the same month of 2020, while in February 5,767.4 tons were sold, which represented an interannual increase of 16%. In the month of March, 8,590.8 tons of cement were sold in Lanzarote, 63% more than in the third month of 2020, and in April 6,060.4 tons were sold, 47% more than in the same period of the previous year. 

In May, although 6,545.7 tons of cement were sold, 8% more than in April, there was however an interannual decrease of 8%. And the same happened in June, the month in which 6,804.3 tons were sold, a figure higher than the previous month but 4% lower than in June 2020.
