Cement sales rose again last April in Lanzarote, with 5,077.4 tons sold, 9.34% more than the previous month, but with a decrease of 16.22% compared to April 2021, according to a report from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC), collected by the Lanzarote Data Center.
Cement continues the upward trend of recent months and marks its best data of 2022 in April, after marking 4,643.8 tons in March. It should be noted that it came from a significant drop, after registering only 4,027 tons sold in January, its worst figure in two years.
However, despite getting closer and closer to the 2021 data, cement sales continue to decline compared to last year, when 6,060.4 were reached in April, 16.22% more, and with a maximum peak of 8,590.8 tons in March.
Therefore, Lanzarote leaves an accumulated 18,260.2 tons in the first four months of the year, 29% less than in 2021, when 25,547.8 tons were recorded.
The Canary Islands are in the opposite situation
For its part, in the archipelago as a whole, the situation is completely the opposite, since 54,038 tons were sold in the Canary Islands in April, which represents a decrease of 3.56% compared to March, when there were 56,035.6.
However, if compared to the previous year, the figure improves in 2022, since only 47,985.9 tons were sold last year, that is, approximately 6,000 less.
Finally, the islands register an accumulated 200,768.6, compared to the 188,358.1 tons sold in 2021, or what is the same, it increases by 7% year-on-year.
