The president of the Lanzarote Business Confederation (CEL), Beatriz Salazar, and the first vice-president and councilor of the Area of Planning and Project Coordination, Finance and Contracting of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Jesús Tovar, held a working meeting aimed at strengthening collaboration between both institutions with the aim of consolidating employment, boosting the island's economy and reducing unemployment rates.
During the meeting, socioeconomic issues related to the current situation of the island were addressed, and the joint projects that have been developed within the framework of cooperation between the CEL and the Cabildo were assessed. These projects, focused on promoting employment, the digitalization and innovation of SMEs, and the fight against the shadow economy, are generating job and business opportunities in different sectors of Lanzarote.
The president of the CEL, Beatriz Salazar, thanked the first vice-president for the Cabildo's support and involvement with the island's business network, highlighting the positive results that this public-private collaboration has had so far.
In this regard, he explained that, "given the favorable impact of the initiatives underway, the Confederation has proposed the design of new projects with which to continue advancing in the creation of employment, training, and business competitiveness in the coming months."
Likewise, during the meeting, the main issues that concern the island's business owners were conveyed to the vice president, and the economic situation of Lanzarote was analyzed, as well as the challenges linked to innovation, sustainability, housing, and infrastructure, in addition to the difficulties in effectively implementing dual vocational training.
Specifically, Beatriz Salazar pointed out that "Lanzarote needs to continue betting on balanced development, which combines economic growth with environmental and social sustainability." She added that "access to housing, infrastructure improvement, and a commitment to innovation are key to guaranteeing the competitiveness of the business fabric and the well-being of the population."
Both the CEL and the Cabildo of Lanzarote reaffirmed their commitment to expand and strengthen existing lines of cooperation, consolidating a joint working model that contributes to the economic and social development of the island.
