Canary Islands will receive 58.5 million euros from Europe for the 2022 section of REACT-EU, the plan launched by the European Commission after the Covid-19 pandemic for recovery. This aid is added to twelve other operational programs between 2014 and 2020, which, in addition to helping in the fight against the pandemic, facilitates investments in the ecological and digital transition.
With this aid, the autonomous government will invest in sustainable tourism, basic services to improve education, housing and health infrastructure, and in helping SMEs maintain or create employment.
REACT-EU figures for Spain
The Commission grants a total of 382.7 million euros to help the autonomous communities and cities of Spain. This amount is added to the 10,900 million euros provided to the country in 2021 and the 354.8 million euros allocated to five autonomous communities within the framework of the 2022 section of REACT-EU in December 2021.
REACT-EU is part of the NextGenerationEU program and helps to complement cohesion policies for the period 2014-2020 throughout 2021 and 2022.
