The call for aid for applied R&D projects promoted by the Ministry of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture (CUCIC), through the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), will allow the development of the project ‘Improvement in the transport and pouring of Concretes with aligned Reinforcement Fibers through magneto-reological activation’ (HRF-Magnetfluid).
Led by the ULPGC, the project proposes an advance in knowledge generation through the development of industrial procedures and advanced tools to be used in the phases prior to the hardening of fiber-reinforced concrete.
The research addresses the use of concrete with steel fibers aligned by magnetic fields from its pumping and pouring, in an automated manner, as a proposal for advancement in the industrial sustainability of the Canary Islands.
The initiative is part of specific objective OE2.5, aimed at fostering knowledge, scientific infrastructures, and technological services to support the promotion of the Blue Economy sectors.
The implementation of this type of concrete, with steel fiber oriented by magnetic fields and produced automatically, represents a technical innovation aligned with the industrial development of the Canary Islands.
The grant awarded amounts to 95,600 euros and will allow this research to be undertaken, which obtained a score of 74.1 points in the scientific and technical evaluation of the call.
This action is part of the 17 projects financed in the latest regional call for applied R&D, endowed with more than 2.5 million euros, and is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the framework of the ERDF Canary Islands Program 2021-2027.
