Although in 2024 almost 50,000 vehicles were registered in the Canary Islands, the figure represents a decrease of 6.5% compared to the previous year's data, according to a report by the employers' association.

Only greater decreases occurred in Aragon (-12.1%) and Castilla-La Mancha (-9.5%), in addition to the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, where a decrease of 6.8% was experienced.

At the national level, however, one million registrations have been exceeded. Specifically, there have been 1,016,885 units, which is equivalent to 7.1% more than the previous year.

A figure that had not been reached since before the start of the pandemic. The good performance in December, with an increase of 28.8% compared to the same month of 2023 and 105,346 units, has made it possible to exceed this figure.

A December that closes, for the first time since there are records, as the best month of the year due to the final sprint of sales by both individuals and renters.

Regarding sales of electrified vehicles (BEV+PHEV), they manage to close 2024 in positive territory, with an increase of 1.9% and a total of 115,939 units. Despite closing December with a 14.4% share and a slight increase in volume, in the accumulated annual figure it still represents 11.4% of the total, six tenths below 2023, when they reached 12%.

The average CO2 emissions of passenger cars sold in December remain at 112.2 grams of CO2 per kilometer traveled, 0.4% lower than the average emissions of new passenger cars sold in the same month of 2023. In the total year, an average of 116.4 grams of CO2 per kilometer traveled is recorded, 0.5% lower than in 2023.
