Converting the results of research into real opportunities for innovation is one of the great challenges of scientific ecosystems. With this objective, Atrineo Iberia works, a company identified by Canarias Excelencia Tecnológica as a success case of the CIDE Network for its development of solutions based on artificial intelligence to promote knowledge transfer and accelerate the arrival of innovative technologies to the market.

The CIDE Network is an initiative of the Ministry of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, promoted through the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), with a co-financing rate of 85% within the framework of the ERDF Program Canarias 2021-2027. Its objective is to promote business innovation and improve the competitiveness of the productive fabric of the Canary Islands through free services of specialized advice and support.

The company has managed to combine the growth of its specialized consulting services with the development of its own technological products, consolidating an innovative line based on artificial intelligence applied to technology transfer processes.

Founded in 2023 as the Spanish subsidiary of the German company Atrineo AG, a European benchmark in technology transfer, the company chose the Canary Islands as a starting point for its expansion in Spain. Since then, it has collaborated with universities, research centers, entrepreneurs, investors, and public entities to transform scientific results into projects with economic and social impact, developing solutions based on artificial intelligence, optimizing knowledge transfer processes, and accelerating the arrival of innovative technologies to the market.

Growth based on knowledge and technology

One of the main milestones achieved by the company has been the simultaneous consolidation of two strategic areas of activity: the growth of its specialized consulting services and the development of its own technological products based on artificial intelligence.

According to Néstor Rodríguez, director of Atrineo Iberia, the company's objective is to become a national and European benchmark in the development of software to support innovation processes.

“Our objective is to establish ourselves as a national and European benchmark in the development of artificial intelligence-based software to support innovation processes. We aspire for our tools to contribute to improving decision-making, innovation management, and knowledge transfer.”

The support of the CIDE Network

During its growth and innovation process, Atrineo Iberia has had the support of the CIDE Network, which has provided specialized assistance in identifying funding opportunities for its projects.

The company particularly highlights the follow-up carried out by the Network's technical staff, providing information on calls for proposals, requirements, and deadlines, as well as advice for preparing and reviewing the necessary documentation.

“Having this external support allows us to stay updated on funding opportunities. The role of the CIDE technical person has been valuable for verifying the interpretation of the legal bases and reviewing the documentation, providing security and rigor in a process that, without this support, is considerably more complex.”

Innovating in a network

Atrineo Iberia's experience confirms the importance of having collaborative environments that facilitate access to knowledge, funding, and growth opportunities.

For Néstor Rodríguez, innovating is no longer a path that companies can travel alone: “The CIDE Network connects you with an ecosystem of companies, experts, and entities that helps you generate business opportunities and not face market challenges alone.”
