The Minister of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture, Migdalia Machín, has signed the order prior to the publication of the bases for the subsidies of visual arts which may be consulted from their publication in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), although they are already available on the Culture page

In total, 200,000 euros will be allocated, which will be distributed in grants of up to 4,000 euros per artist. Artists with projects in development in 2026 and linked to any of the disciplines of the visual arts, such as painting, sculpture, photography, video, digital art, or installation, will be eligible for this aid.

“This call responds to the Government’s commitment to continue fostering the production, visibility, and professionalization of contemporary art in the archipelago, providing economic support to artists who develop their work in the Canary Islands,” Machín has stated.

A committee will be in charge of evaluating the proposals submitted, taking into account criteria such as the quality of the project, its viability, and the professional track record of the applicant. Individuals residing in the Canary Islands who are registered in the Economic Activities Tax (IAE) may apply for these grants, while legal entities are excluded from the call.

The application process will be processed through the electronic headquarters of the Government of the Canary Islands. The candidacies must be accompanied by an execution timeline, a detailed budget, the curriculum vitae, and graphic material that allows for adequate evaluation of the proposal.

These aids for production in visual and plastic arts seek to boost contemporary creative languages, fostering diversity, innovation, and social cohesion throughout the archipelago.
