The latest official population data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) reveals that Arrecife reached a population of 68,169 inhabitants in January 2024, which is 3,343 more residents than twelve months before.
All the municipalities of Lanzarote gained population except for Teguise, where 33 fewer residents were counted than at the beginning of 2023, so it now has a population of 23,848 people.
After the capital of the island, the municipality that added the most residents in the last year was Yaiza, with almost 700 more residents. The southern municipality went from having 17,415 inhabitants in 2023 to 18,113 this year.
San Bartolomé, on the other hand, gained 243 residents and currently has a population of 19,443 people.
In Tinajo, the population growth amounted to 106 more residents up to a total of 6,865 inhabitants.
In Haría and Tías there were small population increases. Haría added 60 residents up to 5,567 inhabitants, while Tías added 29 residents up to a total of 21,462 people.
