The low-cost airline Fly Play, based in Iceland, announced this week that it is ceasing operations and canceling all its flights.
In a statement, it explains that the bankruptcy was due to the few tickets sold and the failure of its restructuring plan.
With a fleet of ten Airbus, it flew to some 30 European destinations including Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
The Icelandic airline, which was based at Keflavík International Airport, in the capital of Iceland, also flew to destinations on the peninsula such as Alicante, Barcelona, Madrid and Málaga.
The airline was the successor to the also extinct Icelandic company WOW Air. In 2019, two former executives of said company launched Fly Play with the aim of operating six aircraft to 14 destinations in Europe and the United States.
