The unforeseen disconnection of two of the three 66/20 kV [kilovolt] transformers at the Punta Grande substation, in Arrecife, at 2:30 p.m. this Monday, caused a power outage that mainly affected residents of Arrecife, Teguise, San Bartolomé and Haría, for unknown reasons. The south of the island was not affected.

From the moment the incident occurred, Endesa initiated maneuvers on the island's medium-voltage network, which allowed the service to be restored to 70% of the affected customers in less than half an hour. Subsequently, at 3:25 p.m., the supply was restored to the remaining 30% once the substation transformers were reconnected.

Once the situation has returned to normal, Endesa has launched an investigation to determine the origin of this disconnection. The company "regrets this unforeseen incident and the inconvenience caused to the affected customers, and appreciates their understanding".
