The town of Playa Blanca will have, presumably from January 2025, an Aldi supermarket located on Avenida Salida a Femés. This is the store, already under construction, projected with 1,200 cubic meters of sales space and 102 parking spaces with units reserved for vehicles of people with reduced mobility and electric cars, among other facilities and services, as confirmed by the company's expansion manager, José Luis Redondo, to the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, during the visit they made this Monday to the plot under construction.

The municipal president highlights "the confidence and investment of the private sector in our municipality of Yaiza, the municipality with the lowest unemployment rate in the Canary Islands, which will now see its offer of food and other basic products in the shopping basket expanded for the benefit of residents, neighbors and all consumers in the south of Lanzarote."

Óscar Noda informs the population that "Aldi is conveying to us its intention to open at the end of the year, but it is also true that it places the most realistic forecast in January. In any case, the arrival of greater competition in the food surface segment in Playa Blanca is very good news. We also know that Lidl will open in November."

In this sense, the mayor underlines the usefulness of the General Plan: "There is a lot of talk about the planning document, especially for the legalization of hotels, but we forget that the current Plan has allowed the provision of public infrastructures, the construction of homes for residents and neighbors who had plots in the towns, but who could not lift a single stone, the transfer of land for the construction project of official protection homes already approved by the Autonomous Community and security and confidence for private investment, which brings with it the creation of jobs."

Yaiza gets 66,000 euros more for its General Plan

The Councilor for Urban Planning of Yaiza, Karina Centeno, reports this Monday on the favorable resolution of the Government of the Canary Islands for the City Council to receive 66,000 euros of subsidy destined for the processing of the new General Urban Planning Plan of Yaiza. "Our planning document is supplementary and celebrates 10 years of validity next December. Its update is one of the priorities of the government program of Unidos por Yaiza and I can say that the specifications of the public tender to commission its drafting are already in the audit stage."

The municipal budget of Yaiza reserves up to 300,000 euros for the drafting of the new Plan, "but now we save the 66,000 euros that we obtained with the Government of the Canary Islands. I appreciate the outstretched hand of President Fernando Clavijo, always inclined to listen to and address the demands that we raise from our municipality," adds Óscar Noda.
