The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Water has announced aid for projects in the rural environment of Lanzarote, managed by ADERLAN, Local Action Group of the island of Lanzarote and collaborating entity of the Government of the Canary Islands for the management of part of the funds of the Rural Development Program of the Canary Islands (FEADER).

The total amount of aid amounts to 159,652.87 euros and is co-financed by funds from the European Union by 85%, and the remaining 15% between the Ministry and the Ministry.

These subsidies are available to entrepreneurs and companies in the private sector, projects of local public entities, non-profit entities that contribute from a sustainable approach to promote economic growth, job creation, diversification of activities and improve the quality of life in rural territories.

Projects of a productive nature can be presented, if they are presented by natural and legal persons and are intended to generate income; or non-productive projects, when they make expenses and investments in public goods or services or that cannot be sold and do not generate economic benefit.

The percentage of subsidy can range between 50 and 100% depending on whether the investments are of a productive or non-productive nature and the type of beneficiary.

As productive projects are those aimed at the creation, expansion or modernization of micro-enterprises of processed agri-food products; the projects of companies that diversify towards non-agricultural activities, such as active tourism companies, gastronomy, artisan workshops, etc.; private social services (for children, the elderly, the disabled...); the creation or improvement of themed rural accommodation (nature tourism, agrotourism, health or sports); companies that provide services, those that organize routes of tourism in agricultural, livestock, wineries, etc.

On the other hand, non-productive projects include training actions (talks, courses, practical workshops, conferences, etc.) on innovative topics; as well as demonstration activities, which allow the dissemination and access to information.

For the public sector, these types of actions are subsidized: small infrastructures for the production of renewable energy in service facilities for the economy and the rural population; service facilities for the population (community composting, collaborative spaces for entrepreneurs and social groups,...), small tourist or recreational infrastructures for thematic products, the creation of routes and their infrastructures (gastronomic with local products, sports,...)....

The investment to be presented by the applicant must be a minimum of €3,000 and a maximum of up to €100,000. Once the deadline for submitting applications has expired, the Groups will carry out a selection process in competitive concurrence and will propose to the Government of the Canary Islands the granting of these aids that definitively authorizes the subsidy to the initiatives proposed by each Group.
